Ramble On is on the big listing sites, and you are welcome to book there. Booking with us directly costs less for the same house, the same dates and the same beds — here is exactly why, and what changes.

Why it is cheaper here

When you book through a listing platform, the platform adds a guest service fee on top of the nightly rate. It is charged to you, not to us, and it shows up at checkout after you have already decided. Booking on this site removes that fee from the equation — the nightly rate goes to the same place, and the platform’s cut simply is not added.

We are not undercutting our own listings or running a bait-and-switch. It is the same calendar and the same house. There is just one fewer party taking a percentage.

What is the same, and what is not

• You message us, not a platform inbox — replies come from the owners
• Easier to ask for an early check-in, a late checkout, or a night either side
• Repeat guests get first refusal on the same week the following year

Honest trade-offs

• You will not earn platform loyalty points or credits on a direct booking.
• Disputes are handled between you and us rather than through a platform’s resolution centre. Our cancellation terms are written out at checkout, and we would rather over-explain them up front than argue later.
• If you strongly prefer a third party holding the money, book on the platform. That is a legitimate reason and we will not chase you about it.

Is booking direct actually safe?

Payment is processed through a secure card processor, not a bank transfer, and you receive a written confirmation before check-in. We have run this house as a family since it opened and we are not difficult to find — our details are in the footer of every page.

Can I see reviews if I book direct?

Yes — the guest reviews on the home page come from real stays. You can also read the platform listings before you book here; we would rather you did your homework.

What if I need to cancel?

The cancellation terms are shown at checkout before you pay, in plain language. If your plans change, message us — we are a family running one house, not a policy engine, and we will do what we reasonably can.

Do you take pets or extra guests?

Ask us. Both are easier to arrange on a direct booking than through a platform’s rigid form.
