Summer at the resort splits into two experiences: the Summer Scenic Gondola up to Sunspot, and the village activity zone clustered around the Arrow chairlift. Trestle Bike Park and the lift-served hiking network are their own worlds — we've given them their own guides. Everything below runs daily 10–5 from mid-June through Labor Day, then Friday–Sunday into late September.
The gondola alone is the best cheap thrill on the mountain: Continental Divide panoramas, the summit trail network, and the Lodge at Sunspot's deck for lunch. Book online 48+ hours ahead — $33 adult / $26 child versus $43/$36 walk-up ($9 under five) — or ride free with a current Winter Park or Ikon pass. The move nobody knows: Mountaintop Happy Hour, Fridays and Saturdays in high summer, when foot passengers ride free after 4 p.m. for drinks and live music on the summit deck. That's the sunset-for-nothing play. New for 2026 up top: the free Alpine Fairy Trail, a woodland discovery walk that buys parents a quiet coffee while small people hunt fairy doors.
The best summer-evening asset isn't at the resort at all — it's Hideaway Park's Rendezvous Event Center, a five-minute walk from Ramble On. The rhythm of a typical summer: free High Note Thursdays concerts (6–8 p.m., BYO picnic, chairs provided), the Winter Park Jazz Festival in mid-July, Blues from the Top in late June, and a July 4th free concert capped by a drone show (not fireworks — fire country). At the resort itself: Friday movies, a fall wine fest, and the Tipperary Classic mountain-bike race (the renamed King of the Rockies) in late August. Our events page keeps the year's calendar.
Practical notes: afternoon thunderstorms pause lifts on schedule — do mountain things in the morning and village or downtown things after lunch. Leashed dogs are welcome on the gondola and around the village, but not on chairlifts or at the downtown concerts. And the altitude rules apply to kids doubly: water bottles, sunscreen, and a nap nobody admits to needing.
